What are the Age Groups?

Youth Teams

U8's

The U8 program mainly consists of 1st and 2nd graders (coed).  Players must be younger than 8 years old by September 1, preceding the start of the season.  They must be enrolled, attending and in good standing in a grade school or other appropriate educational program (home schooled).

The Danville Oaks U8 program is intended to introduce the game to the next generation of potential ruggers and teach safe playing techniques by playing flag rugby. The coaches may be on the playing field during the match to provide instruction. This promotes safety and allows the coaches to instruct the players in the game fundamentals. The season runs from December through March.

The U8's will  continue to provide a Danville based internal league for the 2017-2018 season as player numbers permit. This will allow us to have multiple U8 teams internally within the Oaks that will play matches in Danville against our own teams, as well as other local club teams. Our intention is to provide our players as much playing time as possible each weekend. There will be unlimited substitutions during games with 5 players on a side.

U10's

The U10 program is for elementary school athletes, primarily consisting of 3rd and 4th graders (coed). Players must be younger than 10 years old as of September 1, preceding the start of the season. They must be enrolled, attending and in good standing in a grade school or other appropriate educational program (home schooled).

They will play on roughly one third of a regulation size field for two 10 to 15 minute halves using a number 4 ball. There will be unlimited substitutions during games with 10 players on a side. This will be tackle rugby with uncontested scrums, uncontested line-outs and no conversion kicks after a try is scored. The season runs from December through March.
