Mission Statement

The Oaks Rugby Club's mission is to provide youth in the Tri-Valley qualified instruction in rugby fundamentals and to engender a life-long love of the sport. Teams of varying levels of competition, from recreational (everyone welcome, all play in games) to highly competitive (highest-skilled players selected to play in games) are offered. Play becomes more competitive as players advance in age and ability. Special attention is given to character development, including community service.

Information About the Club

The Oaks Rugby Football Club consists of six age groups from U8’s to High School Varsity. Players are trained in the techniques and strategies required for playing the game of Rugby with the objective of building a solid, fun, competitive base to prepare young athletes for all of their current and future endeavors. The essential features of Rugby, good sportsmanship and fair play, are key components of the program.  Players are given the opportunity to reach their full potential in a fun environment, irrespective of size, body shape or ability.

Rugby training begins in December on Saturdays and is increased to two nights a week in January through March for U8, U10, U12 and MS with games on Saturdays and Sundays. High School teams typically practice three nights a week from December through May, with games on Saturdays and Sundays. The Oaks take a break for the Holidays in late December/early January.

Information About the Teams

Youth Teams

U8's

The U8 program mainly consists of 1st and 2nd graders (coed).  Players must be younger than 8 years old by September 1, preceding the start of the season.  They must be enrolled, attending and in good standing in a grade school or home schooled.

The Oaks U8 program is intended to introduce the game to our youngest players by playing flag rugby. The coaches may be on the playing field during the match to provide instruction. This promotes safety and allows the coaches to instruct the players in the game fundamentals. The season runs from December through March.

The U8's may provide a Danville based internal league for the 2023-2024 season as player numbers permit. This will allow us to have multiple U8 teams internally within the Oaks that will play matches in Danville against our own teams, as well as other local club teams. Our intention is to provide our players as much playing time as possible each weekend. There will be unlimited substitutions during games with 5 players on a side.

U10's

They will play on roughly one half of a regulation size field for two 10 to 15 minute halves using a number 4 ball. There will be unlimited substitutions during games with 10 players on a side.
